Plants solitary, flattened globose to globose, depressed api-cally, light green, 6-9 cm (2.4-3.5 in) high, 8-14 cm (3.1-5.5 in) in diameter. Ribs as many as 13, acute, to 2.5 cm (1 in) high. Areoles round, prominent, gray, to 1 cm (0.4 in) apart. Spines needle-like, light gray. Central spine usually one, sometimes as many as 3, straight, to 1.2 cm (0.5 in) long. Radial spines about 10, spreading, slightly curved, to 1 cm (0.4 in) long. Flowers open at night, narrow funnelform, white, to 18

cm (7.1 in) long and 5 cm (2 in) in diameter. Fruits elliptical to oblong, tuberculate, green, becoming yellow, dehiscent, to 3 cm (1.2 in) long and 1.5 cm (0.6 in) in diameter. Distribution: Cordillera province, Santa Cruz, Bolivia.
